OUR STORY
Over more than two decades, AJNET has expanded its space, technology and capabilities. What brought us here remains the same: high standards, quality and the drive to keep improving.
In June 1999, AJNET began in an apartment on Rua Patrão Lagoa. With a university nearby and no copy centre serving the area, António Maia and his brother saw an opportunity. The name joined AJ, the two partners’ initials, with NET as the internet began to take off.
A Ricoh printer arrived, capable of producing around 3 pages per minute in colour. At the time, it was a major step forward.
More people joined after our first hire; some have now been with us for over 20 years. Growth took AJNET to Rua Padre José António de Campos, bringing more space, more clients and new challenges.
One of the toughest periods in our history called for new ways of working in a more competitive market. And we kept going.
After the original partnership ended, António Maia became the sole owner of the company.
Our first shop opened in Maia. What began as a test of the location and operation became a turning point.
AJNET bought a building in the Maia Industrial Zone. Its location and space gave shape to A Fábrica.
The pandemic brought uncertainty and called for adaptability, resilience and teamwork.
The Jet Press arrived: 50 × 70 digital printing with quality close to offset. From Ricoh to newer technology, our goal remains the same: keep getting better.
The company officially became AJNET, S.A., marking a new stage of growth and consolidation.
After 25 years, the Póvoa shop closed. Our team, production and operations came together in Maia. A new chapter began.
A second floor, new racking and an electric stacker add and organise space, keeping stock on site.
Investment in large format, commercial printing and finishing: Revoria, stitching and folding equipment, guillotine and lamination.
2025 · RECOGNITION AJNET was awarded PME Líder.
WHAT REMAINS
We started in an apartment.
We went from a printer producing 3 pages per minute to a production operation with the technology, equipment and capacity for projects of many sizes.
We grew in Póvoa, moved to Maia and built A Fábrica. We expanded our team, our space and what we can deliver.
But some things have never changed:
Perhaps that is why some clients have stayed with us since the early days, and some colleagues have been part of AJNET for more than two decades.
This story was built with more than machines, investment or square metres.
It was built by people.
And we keep building it every day.
